images-3

When you are having a flare up, food can absolutely become the enemy. Because everyone suffering from Crohn’s has such different reactions to food, knowing what to eat during a flare-up can be scary – often causing one to steer clear of food all together. The bummer is that maintaining nutrients and energy is essential for helping your body fight off the flare. Research has shown that foods such as yogurt, oily fish, applesauce, bananas, cooked carrots, potatoes and liquid meals can often be tolerated during those painful times. Other foods, such as fried foods, nuts, popcorn, and anything will seeds or caffeine, can cause all sorts of problems.

Question Time:

  1. What foods can you tolerate during a flare-up?
  2. What foods do you need to avoid?
  3. What are your favorite recipes during this difficult time?

Here are some simple recipes for meals that may work during your flare-up:

Slow Cooker Cider Applesauce (No Sugar Added)

Crockpot Sweet Potatoes

Banana-Peach Smoothie
